Air Purifiers: Air Cleaners

Air cleaners have become more popular in recent years, partly due to an increase in allergies and asthma. The cause of many of these health related problems is right in your own home. Indoor air pollution is one of the worst risks to our health in our daily lives. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency named indoor air quality as the most serious environmental health problem, worse than those caused by outdoor air. Air cleaners arent just for luxury. Its a health issue.

What Air Cleaners Attack
Allergies and asthma can be caused by a number of pollutants in the home. Common culprits include pet hair, insecticides, dust, insects, litter boxes, aerosols, and cigarette smoke, just to name some. In places that can easily retain dampness like carpets and bathrooms, mold and fungus can grow. Additionally, furniture and carpets are traps for dust and allergens, trapping them and becoming a breeding ground for dust mites.

There is no doubt that air cleaners will immensely improve your health. Even if you arent allergic, you are breathing in all kinds of offensive particles. There are different types of air cleaners available that use different technologies to clean the air.

Central house air cleaners can be divided into two types of filters, those in your furnace and electrostatic ones. The filters in your furnace will filter the basic large pollutants (like dust) as the air blows through the furnace. It works as long as you are running your furnace or air conditioner. Other more sophisticated full house air cleaners, like electrostatic precipitators, have charged plates that will attract very small particles.
